What does a typical SUP lesson looks like?
Our main aim is to have fun and learn the skills to Stand Up Paddle Board. A lesson is generally 1 and a half hours long. We start with a safety briefing followed by a warm up and then we teach you the basic skills to control the board and get standing up while on dry land. This all normally takes 15-20 mins before we hit the water and put it into practice.
We meet at the surf school on Sandhaven beach and if the conditions aren't right for paddle boarding there (i.e too many waves) we head round the corner (1 min drive /5-10 min walk) to Little Haven, which is more sheltered. If under 18 you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to have a paddle board lesson.
Stand Up Paddle Tours:
Once you've got the hang of the paddle boarding then you might want to come on a tour of our beautiful and historic coastline. We head south down towards Marsden bay under the cliffs of the leas exploring all the coves and bays where we've got the signs of old and not so old industry, former World War One defenses, smugglers bays and sites of shipwrecks.
If we're lucky we might catch a glimpse of the wildlife we've got on our shores including seals, dolphins as well as lots of sea birds (black oyster catchers, sanderlings, guls, comorants, shags, and terns - to name but a few).
Tours cost £25 per person. We run tours both days at the weekends and a tour last approximately 2 hours. Tours are dependent on the weather and sea conditions, so the times can change to fit when is best. If you want to book onto our next tour please ring on 07583144560.
